Let Me Give You A Hynt

If you are like me, when I became disabled I had no idea what was available to me. I found out from a friend of my Mama about the Hynt card.

Hynt is a national scheme throughout Wales that enables people like me who need assistance and support to be able to take a carer or assistant free of charge with them to a venue that supports the scheme. You may already know this but there are schemes out there that can help you still the things you want to do.

You can apply on the website below and once you have received your card, you will be able to call the venue to book your tickets. I received an email with my membership number before the card.

I recently called to book tickets to see Omid Djalili at the Swansea Grand Theatre. I spoke to a lovely staff member who asked me my needs in a sensitive way. Together we worked out the best way for me to be able to access the theatre and the best seat for me to enjoy the performance and use the facilities. I gave them the Hynt card number along with the payment for the one ticket and was told to bring the card as ID when we go. Booking the tickets was a positive experience.

So far I can recommend the Hynt card. I think it’s a great idea, especially after nearly 2 years in due to Lockdown to get yourself back out there. I was told about it from a friend so if you don’t already have one, I am passing the knowledge on to you. I would recommend filling in the form and sending your ID online. It’s a quick process.

I’ve included a link to the website below which will tell you what ID and info you need to provide.
