About Me

20170521_120953My name is Tonya and I work in the Civil Service, however when I am not working I love to travel or just generally try new things out and about.

I am also registered disabled due to various illnesses and use a range of mobility aids, the most used and cherished of these is my beloved “Scootie”. (Yes that’s his name and yes it did take me ages to name him!). He is a mobility scooter by Moving Life, the “Atto” and he goes everywhere with me. He folds up in to hand luggage size and has a USB cable for charging my phone etc (priorities right!). My other invaluable travel companion is my husband Daniel (sometimes Dan, Danny or Bo (relating to our surname). He keeps me going and helps me fulfil my hunger for adventure! He works in the travel industry so has a bit of know-how and also puts Scootie up for me expertly!

When I first became ill, I thought it was the end of my adventures. I have learned that having a disability changes how you do things and when you do things but you adapt, as adventures, whether little or giant are there to be experienced!

So that’s why I am writing this blog. To share my experiences with you, whether good or bad, as I navigate the highs and lows of trying to get around with limited mobility and to offer any hints and tips I pick up along the way.

I hope you enjoy

Tonya

*  The cobbles were not comfortable for me though Scootie handled them easily. Access seemed to be only at two points for Scooter or wheelchair users as those are the only ramps.
